April 9, 2025 - The Chest and Tin Full of Letters

Today we had a very unique opportunity to film a scene with an old war chest filled with memorabilia and letters contained within. A friend of mine told me about this chest, and that it had not been opened in several decades. Her three siblings came in from out of town to participate, and it was an amazing experience. Inside there were hundreds and hundreds of letters, accompanied by their dad‘s uniform, hundreds of photographs, and other items. There was also a tin can inside the chest which had a note on top stating, “do not open until dad has passed away”. Well, that day was today, and the letters were all written from their dad to their mother during the war while they were dating. Emotions ran high and it was an incredible experience to witness.
